What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is one of the oldest and most widely used forms of natural medicine, developed over 200 years ago, which uses remedies made from over 3000 plants, minerals and the animal kingdom to provide safe, non-toxic and effective health care. It can increase your vitality and help to keep you healthy so that you are less susceptible to diseases as well as treat illnesses when they arise.
Homeopathy is a holistic medicine; it treats the person as a whole, taking into account their personality and emotional state as well as their physical symptoms. As we know, people are all highly individual, unlike orthodox medicine each homeopathic prescription is carefully matched to the individual person. We do not prescribe according to the illness, "She has tonsilitis" or "He has migraine", we look at the person as a complete unit. No one remedy is indicated for every person withthe same disease, everyone will express their symptoms differently; different people need different remedies.
How does homeopathy work?
Homeopathic remedies act upon the body's own energy, which homoeopaths call the vital force, the force or energy responsible for the healthy running of the body and combating disease. Symptoms of illness are an outward expression of an imbalance in the vital force.
The remedies act to speed recovery by stimulating the vital force to bounce back and rid the body of disease.
Like cures like, the law of similars
Dr Samual Hahnemann developed homeopathy about 200 years ago in German. He was a chemist and a doctor who had withdrawn from practice after he became disillusioned with the medical procedures of the day. Dr Hahnemann's greatest discovery was 'the law of similars', he had set about to try to discover for himself the relationship between Cinchona, an anti-malarial drug made from the bark of a tree and the disease itself. By taking the drug repeatedly over several days he began to develop the symptoms of malaria, palpitations, trembling, thirst, chills and eventually a numb sensation. This principle is the cornerstone of homeopathy, any substance which, taken in its natural form, causes symptoms to appear in a healthy person can be used to treat the same symptoms in a sick person.
Homeopathic remedies are prepared by a sophisticated process of dilution and succussion, after this process there is very little, if any, of the original substance left and the remedy takes on the energetic pattern of the substance; therefore homeopathic remedies are completely safe and can be prescribed for everyone.

Homeopathy and your child
Constitutional treatment is the care of your child's health by a professional homeopath who will match your child's symptoms, taken as a whole to a remedy which best suits them as an individual. There are a great many benefits to children who receive regular constitutional treatment. Treatment encourages their body's own immune system to become stronger and they become less susceptible to illness with increased energy.
Children respond quickly to homeopathic remedies. Their 'picture' is less cluttered than that of adults, they do not have a lifetime of emotional trauma and over-medication to undo. Therefore their capacity for health, healing and happiness is not yet reduced. Homeopathy is safe for all children from day old new-born babies through to the end of their lives.
